Writing Update + Castle Xenon
Things are progressing well with Blue Odyssey! It's a thrill to be connecting with my writing again. I'm more than 100 pages in and enjoying the ride. We get to explore more of Elysion this time around and meet a ton of new characters. I'm trying to work out how to keep it from being overwhelming for the reader, but also reveling in the fantasy tropes! Stay tuned!
Blue Revolution is currently unavailable. I've taken it off Amazon, made some small edits, and am currently trying to find a cover artist. I no longer wish to support Amazon, or force people who want to read my work to support Amazon, so I am searching for an alternative platform. I might go to IngramSpark, we'll see what the future holds!
The only downside to getting back into writing, is that it has definitely cut into my reading time. I don't know how much I will realistically be able to read this year - which doesn't matter, except that I love reading as much as I love writing. Why aren't there more hours in the day?
Speaking of hobbies and creativity, a friend of mine has published a videogame! Castle Xenon is a retro-style fantasy RPG. Promoting this is a little tricky as this person wishes to remain anonymous for the time being. The game is really cool. I'm only 4 hours in, but I've been told it's around 40 hours of gameplay! I am already obsessed. The characters are quirky and fun, each has unique abilities in battle and the ability to level up to multiple job classes as the game progresses.
If you grew up playing JRPGs on the Sega Genesis and/or Super Nintendo (think the early Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire titles) I think you would really love this. The battle sprites and cut scenes are all custom made by the creator and capture the vintage videogame aesthetic. Here are some screenshots I took to give you an idea of the vibes:
